Moving in Corio
Corio is Geelong's northern gateway, the working suburb built around the old Ford and Alcoa years, with Toyota once here too — and the legacy of that era is much of its housing stock: solid 1950s-to-70s worker homes, the classic three-bedroom Ford-estate brick house, laid out on wide, regular streets. From the northern end you catch Corio Bay, and the suburb offers some of the most affordable entry-level homes in the region, which keeps a steady flow of first-home and young-family moves coming through. For a move the access is genuinely easy: those wide post-war streets give a truck plenty of room to park close, driveways are usually accommodating, and the homes are mostly single-level brick. Sitting right beside the Geelong Ring Road, Corio is quick to reach and quick to move on from, which makes it a smooth, efficient job in most cases.
Local access & logistics
Every Corio move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around in Corio:
- Wide, regular post-war streets give a truck plenty of room to park close to the door.
- Mostly single-level 1950s-70s brick homes, including the classic three-bedroom Ford-estate house — straightforward carries.
- Driveways are generally accommodating, so most moves back up to the door rather than a long kerb carry.
- Right beside the Geelong Ring Road, so the suburb is fast to reach and connect onward.
Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we'll tell you exactly how we'd handle your move, including parking, the carry and any lift or staircase that needs a plan.

Parking and access in the City of Greater Geelong
Greater Geelong doesn't run a standard one-day removalist parking permit, so the realistic approach is to work with the existing restrictions rather than buy your way around them. In most residential suburbs (Belmont, Highton, Corio and the like) street parking is unrestricted and you can pull the truck up close to the door. In the CBD it's tighter: Moorabool Street, Brougham Street and the surrounding blocks have 30-minute loading zones and 2hr/4hr metered bays, so we book CBD moves for early on a weekday and work the loading zones with the truck on hazard lights. The Waterfront Precinct (the Esplanade, Cunningham Pier and Eastern Beach) is the one to plan around — it mixes resident permit parking with metered public bays, and large-vehicle access is restricted along parts of the promenade, so we scout the closest legal truck spot before the day rather than assume kerbside access.
Corio removals: common questions
How good is access for moves up and down the Ring Road corridor?
Excellent. Corio sits right by the Geelong Ring Road, so moves to or from Melbourne, the western suburbs or the north of town are a fast, direct run with no fighting through the CBD. It's one of the easiest suburbs in Geelong to get a truck in and out of quickly.
Do you do affordable, entry-level home moves?
Absolutely — it's a big part of what we do in Corio. The classic 3-bedroom brick homes here move quickly with the wide streets and easy parking, so a straightforward load is an affordable job. You'll get a clear up-front quote so you know exactly what it costs before we start.
Can you do short-notice and weekday moves?
Usually, yes. Corio's easy access means we can often slot in a mid-week or short-notice move without much fuss. Get a quote in online with your preferred date and we'll tell you honestly what we can do — the more notice the better your choice of times.
How much does a move in Corio cost?
Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative quote up front for your specific move. No surprises on the day.
